DDx
- Parotid swelling due to other causes, eg, calculi, bacteria, diabetes, cirrhosis, Sjögren’s syndrome, sarcoidosis, tumor, starch ingestion, bulimia
- Lymphadenopathy (eg, from conjunctivitis, otitis media, sinusitis)
- Lymphocytic choriomeningitis
- Aseptic meningitis, pancreatitis, or orchitis due to other causes
