Etiology
- Caval webs
- Myeloproliferative disease, eg, polycythemia vera
- Right-sided congestive heart failure (CHF) or constrictive pericarditis
- Neoplasm compressing hepatic vein
- Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria
- Behçet’s syndrome
- Oral contraceptives or pregnancy
- Hypercoagulable state
- Post bone-marrow transplant
- "Bush teas" (pyrrolizidine alkaloids)
