Thrombocytosis
Etiology
Reactive thrombocytosis (usually platelets <1,000,000)
- Inflammatory disease, e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis
- Chronic infection
- Iron-deficiency anemia
- Postsplenectomy (transient)
- Essential thrombocytosis
- Polycythemia vera
- Chronic myelogenous leukemia
- Myelofibrosis
