- Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria
- Bone marrow irradiation
- Genetic, e.g., Fanconi’s anemia
- Hypersplenism
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Infection: tuberculosis, AIDS, leishmaniasis, brucellosis, histoplasmosis. (Viruses causing aplastic anemia: hepatitis, Epstein-Barr virus, HIV, parvovirus B19)
