Hemorrhage into brain parenchyma:
  • Compression of brain tissues
  • Secondary injury results from:
    • Cerebral edema
    • Increased intracranial pressure (ICP)

Intracerebral hemorrhage can occur spontaneously or from trauma:
  • Uncontrolled or acute HTN (most common)
