Burns represent an acute injury to the flesh most commonly due to exposure to heat or flame
Etiology
Burns can be classified into 7 categories:- Scalds: Hot liquids, grease, or steam
- Contact: Hot or cold surfaces
- Thermal: Fire or flames
- Radiation burns
- Chemical burns
- Electrical burns
- Friction burns: Road rash, rope burns, as well as heat generated by friction
