Tendon lacerations can be easily missed therefore require exploration through complete range of motion

Description

  • Based on mechanism
  • Can be caused by a variety of mechanisms:
    • Penetrating trauma
    • Blunt trauma
    • Internal trauma from secondary entrapment/laceration from a nearby bony injury

Etiology

Tendon injuries grossly categorized into those affecting upper vs lower extremities:

  • Injuries from workplace, home, assault or attempted suicide most lower extremity injuries are related to work or motor vehicle accidents
