  • Infectious mononucleosis
  • Polyarthritis due to other causes, eg, reactive arthritis, parvovirus B19, post-rubella vaccination
  • Rocky Mountain spotted fever
  • Drug eruption
  • Congenital herpes simplex virus, syphilis, toxoplasmosis, or cytomegalovirus
