Etiology

  • HLA-B27-related conditions: ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis (Reiter’s syndrome), psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease
  • Behçet’s syndrome
  • Herpes simplex or zoster infection
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Tuberculosis, syphilis, toxoplasmosis
  • AIDS: cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus, herpes zoster, mycobacteria, Cryptococcus, Toxoplasma, Candida
  • Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome (uveitis, alopecia, poliosis, vitiligo, hearing loss)
  • Autoimmune retinal vasculitis
